Dogs have a very special role in the world of Search and Rescue, and are continually proven to be invaluable in the effort to locate missing, lost and injured persons. Experts estimate that a single dog team can be as effective as 20 to 30 trained human searchers in locating a missing person in a given period of time.

Hire K9 offers the best Search and Rescue dogs available. Our dogs are trained on a fully functional rubble pile, a regulation FEMA agility course, thousands of acres of wilderness, and several large bodies of water. So, whether it is a missing child, a tornado or massive hurricane, or even an act of terrorism that you are called to assist with, allow Hire K9 the opportunity to prepare you with the best trained canine team available. 

HIRE K9 TRAINING

  • Our Search and Rescue dogs are trained in  land cadaver, water cadaver, tracking, trailing, air scenting, urban or wilderness search and rescue. Tracking and trailing dogs are trained for scent discrimination, wilderness tracking or variable surface / hard surface tracking.
  • Our Search and Rescue dog training is progressive and taught by active search and rescue dog handlers. Our dogs are trained in some of the most rigorous environments on the east coast.
  • Our goal is to provide each handler and team with all of the necessary tools and knowledge to be a productive and effective Search and Rescue Dog Team.
  • We often train Search and Rescue Dogs for private individuals, as well as members of fire, police and sheriff’s departments. We are able to provide you with fully trained search and rescue dogs in a variety of breeds.

HOW FAR WILL YOUR K9 TEAMS TRAVEL & WHAT BREEDS DO YOU USE?

Hire K9 Teams will travel to any event or location worldwide. Travel costs would be addressed in all canine service contract quotes.Hire K9 utilizes German Shepherds, Belgian Malinois, Labrador Retrievers, Springer Spaniels, and other breeds.

ARE YOUR K9 TEAMS CERTIFIED?

Yes, all of our K9 Teams are certified by an independent third party testing authority (ADCA) American Detection Canine Association. All canines teams are trained to meet or exceed nationally recognized standards from (USPCA) United States Police Canine Association, (NAPWDA) North American Work Dog Association and (NNDDA) National Narcotic Detector Dog Association.

Wilderness Search and Rescue Dog Teams

Wilderness Search and Rescue Dog Training – Wilderness dogs are trained to locate individuals in rugged terrain that is generally difficult for human searchers to navigate. Wilderness search dogs are typically trained in agility as well as on and off lead obedience for complete control. These dogs generally work off lead as air-scenting dogs to locate lost or missing individuals quickly and reliably. Wilderness search dogs can be trained with a bark and hold indication or a re-find alert.

Urban Search and Rescue Dog Teams

Urban Search and Rescue Dog Training – USAR, Disaster or Urban Search and Rescue Dogs are trained to search for live humans in various environments. These dogs are utilized to search collapsed buildings and other structures after, tornados, earthquakes as well as other natural and man made disasters. These search dogs are trained to be comfortable on collapsed buildings and other unstable footings such as roofing and rubble. USAR dogs are typically trained in agility, on and off leash obedience as well as distance (directional) control. Our USAR Disaster dogs are capable of performing in the rigorous and harsh environments that are created by the disaster scenes that they are required to perform in.

Cadaver Dog Teams

Cadaver Detection Dog Training – HRD, Human Remains Detection or (Cadaver) dogs are trained to locate various types of human remains such as flesh, hair, bone, blood, teeth, etc. Cadaver dogs are trained to indicate on human odor in various states of decomposition. Cadaver detection dogs are trained in a variety of demanding environments to ensure their reliability in the field. Our dogs are trained to indicate with a passive (sit) or active (scratch) alert.
